Just shy of a 40th anniversary in business,
the-freelance-editor has retired!
January 2027 would have marked my 40th year as a researcher, fact-checker, ghostwriter, editor. And, while I have loved practically every minute of that time (something I know few people can say), this seems to be a good time for entering retirement.
When I began working in libraries in the late 1960s as an elementary school student, I had no idea where I was headed or how I was going to get there. To tell the truth, I could have never dreamed of the technological advances and societal changes that would occur as I grew under some of the best mentors possible, learned the skills of library research and organization, and expanded my talents and offerings into the editorial realm.
But times have changed and needs have evolved—and technology has made many things, both activities and people, obsolete. Of course, I also got older and more tired. And, I still want to do new things. All of those thoughts contributed to making the decision a year or so ago to start phasing out and closing down the-freelance-editor.
I am extremely proud of my clients’ projects and my own accomplishments over the years. To them, I say thanks for entrusting me with your thoughts and words during project after project; to my efforts, I thank everyone who assisted, nurtured, coached, cheered, and followed.
Now: I’m off to my next act!
About the-freelance-editor website
As you may have noted in other parts of this website, unless you landed here first, the-freelance-editor.com, in one form or another, has been around since 1997.
As part of that longevity, I have transitioned through three previous versions of websites—1997, ca. 2003 (along with this side venture around 2009), and 2013 in case you care to peek; just remember, the designs are signs of their times and technologies!
